Remember Misbah ul Haq has already resigned as a chief selector of Pakistan’s National team So this was the last squad announced by Misbah ul Haq. Muhammad Wasim/ Shoaib Akhtar will probably replace him as a chief selector for the Pakistan Cricket team.

Misbah ul Haq As a Chief Selector

Misbah ul Haq Has taken some Tough decisions in his short tenure, He became Chief selector in September last year and resigned in October in the ongoing year, so its hardly 13 months. Some really poor decisions, some very smart decisions too. SO, if you ask me about his tenure, it was Good According to me the selections were good but unfortunately, things didn’t work rightly. STATS shows the same story as well. Misbah ul Haq is again Criticized by the Pakistani Nation this time for being Chief selector this time but this isn’t a new thing for him surely as we know he is the most Criticized Pakistani cricketer ever.

The best Decision was probably to bring FAWAD ALAM back into the squad but he didn’t get proper chances. If you notice it closely then Fawad Alam had no place in the team especially having Harris Sohail in the squad but that’s a separate debate. Misbah brought Youngsters into the test team too, he intended to groom them properly. This again didn’t work right but was a Good Idea in my opinion. Some very Good Players Like Aamer Yameen and Zahid Mehmood etc. were ignored again and again and Usman Qadir despite not having any good performances in our domestic cricket gets his place. I don’t understand the reason behind this but this was the case where No deserving took place of a deserving one. Misbah indeed did fair with many players too but some players went ignored again and again, unfortunately. Muhammad Hussain despite continuous poor performances is still in the team. SO, we can see so many POSITIVES AND NEGATIVES of Misbah’s tenure. But this Happens in every person’s tenure I mean some players get ignored every time.

Some Shocking Decision By Misbah UL Haq

The first shocking decision of Misbah was to bring back AHMAD SHAHZAD and UMAR AKMAL in the team. He was probably thinking of giving them one last chance but things didn’t work well for Pakistan. Both the players failed to score big in the T20I Series against Srilanka and most importantly Pakistan LOST to Srilanka on Home ground. There are few things we all should notice like we should see the performances of other players, even our best batsman Babar failed to impress in that series also bowlers didn’t perform well. But the FRUSTRATED Pakistani nation started criticizing Misbah ul Haq badly.

Another shocking decision was to drop Muhammad Amir & Wahab Riaz from the Limited formats team when they LEFT test Cricket. Honestly, I don’t get the proper reason behind it.

So, there were many Good as well as bad decisions in his tenure. That happens in every person’s tenure as I mentioned above.

Final Words on Misbah Ul Haq As Chief Selector

Basically, in my opinion, the TOUGHEST Post on any board is the Chief selector because You can’t Make everyone happy simply. I mean suppose there are two players, Player A, and Player B. If the selector selects Player A then the Fans of Player B would be disappointed and vise versa. Remember Fans will not dare to think about the hard work, meetings, thinking the chief selector has done before selecting any player.

It’s not the chief selector all alone but a committee consists of 8-10 members that decided the squad. You have to select 15 players from like more than 30-40 or maybe more every time. You have to select All-rounders, batters’ spinners, fast bowlers, and all these must include some seniors and also some youngsters as well. And after all this, you already know that you will be criticized for it later in any condition. so being a CHEIF SELECTOR isn’t easy.

So, if we talk about overall ratings so for me it’s 7/10 to Misbah ul Haq, he did a good job as a chief selector.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed the dual roles but after reviewing the past 12 months and looking ahead at the workload in the next 24 months of my tenure, it is appropriate that I invest and dedicate all my time, energy, and attention to one role from now on,”- Misbah ul Haq.

Misbah wants to focus on the role of Head Coach now as he said “I’m satisfied with how the team is progressing. A lot of players have come into the setup and sealed spots. The mission now is to guide Pakistan into the top three in every format”.

Head coach and chief selector Misbah-ul-Haq today named 22 probables for the ODI and T20I series against Zimbabwe, insisting he has opted for experience in the 50-over matches and provided extended run to the youngsters in the T20I format.
